Hi All,
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 QC SB and the buttons in the map lights in the overhead console are broke. I was hoping someone could assist me in how to fix the buttons? I called Dodge dealer parts dept. and they said I needed to replace with partnumber 5013609AA. This turns out to be the wiring harness for the overhead console. I doubt this is correct because it's only the push buttons (under the plastic push map light lens) that are defective. I am assuming the whole console will need to be replaced unless the light assembly connected to the console is replaceable.

Also, how do I remove the overhead console? I don't see any visible screws. I assume it's clamped in...

Anyway... any help would be appreciated on how to remove the console and how to repair the map lights.

Thanks,
Mike

there should be two screws towards the windshield that use a phillips head, once the screws are out start slideing the unit towards the rear of the truck and it should come off. I just did the took mine off to see what bulbs it used.

Thanks for the replies. I discovered I needed the wiring harness (which includes the 2 buttons (Part# 5013609AA)). Dodge dealer wanted $30. I purchased online at http://www.dodge-auto-parts-dealer.com/parts.htm for $23 (including shipping).
I found that there are NO screws involved in the removal of the overhead console. There are 2 tabs in the console toward the windshield that need to be depressed. Then slide the console toward the rear window...and... waaalaaa... the console is released. Hope this helps someone in the future.
